Friday, October 31, 2003 Okay - something for the second - All Souls Day, if you want to uphold the old traditions. Leave out a soul-cake for the spirits. Of course, tonite, the beggars and children would have been out asking for some...but it never hurt to forget the others. They might be hungry too. Recipe from Helen's British Cooking Site - Soul-Cakes SOULING SONG Hey Ho, nobody home! No meat, nor bread, nor money have I got, Yet shall we be merry, Hey ho, nobody home! Chorus: A soul, a soul, a soul cake Please, good missus, a soul cake An apple, a pear, a plum and a cherry Any good thing to make us all merry One for Peter, two for Paul Three for Him who made us all God Bless the master of this house, the mistress also And all the little children, that around your table grow The cattle in your stable, the dog at your front door And all that dwells within your gates, we wish you ten times more Chorus The lanes are very dirty, my shoes are very thin I've got a little pocket to put a penny in If you haven't got a penny, a ha' penny will do If you haven't got a ha' penny, then God bless you Chorus Go down into your cellar, and see what you can find If your barrels are not empty, I hope you will be kind Indeed, I hope you will be kind, with your apples and your beer And I will come and sing no more, ‘til this time next year .:.Uniquely maladjusted... Samhain; Samhuin; Hallowmas - Gaelic/Celtic Hallowtide begins - Greek. It was a five day celebration for Kore/Persephone 'eloped' with Plouton to Elysium for the winter. Please tell me you're all at least a little familiar with the Greek/Roman myth of winter. Please. Feast of Sekhmet and Bast - Egyptian. Basically the forerunner to Halloween. Reformation Day - Protestant. When Martin Luther posted his Theses on the door of a (the?) church in Wittenberg Germany. Oh, yeah. And books.} .:.Uniquely maladjusted... But fun.:. 10:55 PM Well! What a productive night. ^^V Got tons of candy - even with a hyper kid stealing mine right from my bag/pumpkin/thing. Had fun for the most part, though it was rather frightening when Becca said I'd be a good mother one day. >< Gah. I was woefully unoriginal - or...traditional,. Yeah. Traditional! I wore my "Faire Costume". Well Okay. The bodice and skirts and socks from the Muskogee Faire and one of the chimeses {Spelled Wrong} from a few years back. It all fit together well - Black, Burgundy and green. I need to start working on the patterns soon. I was pretty. And my skirts swoosh very nicely. Okay. Still on the candy. ~^ .:.Uniquely maladjusted...
